BitMEX CEO Alexander Hoeptner Departs From Crypto Exchange: Report
The CEO of crypto exchange BitMEX, Alexander Hoeptner, has left the firm, according to a report by the Block. The firm's CFO Stephan Lutz has been appointed as interim CEO, the report added.
Hoeptner had joined BitMEX in late 2020. Before BitMEX, Hoeptner was CEO of German stock exchange Borse Stuttgart GmbH and liquidity provider Euwax AG.
Earlier this month, Hoeptner told CoinDesk that the exchange was planning to launch its native token, BMEX, by the end of the year.
The interim CEO Lutz, was a former partner at auditing and consultancy giant PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). Lutz had joined BitMEX in March of 2021.
BitMEX did not immediately respond to CoinDesk's request for comment.
